Sr. Mary Timothy Coniglio Born in Italy, Francesca (Sr. Mary Timothy) grew up during the depression and the Second World War. Her parents had both come from America, but met in Italy, and had to wait out the war for their return. "When the war was finally over, my father had to apply to return with his family to the US. I think it was like Jacob in the Bible: he had crossed the Atlantic alone, and now after 20 years, he was applying for ten people!" People of deep faith, Mr. and Mrs. Coniglio never missed Mass or the sacraments unless they were sick. This made a profound impression on all eight of their children. Francesca joined the children's choir at church, then the Children of Mary Sodality, and when she was old enough, Catholic Action. One autumn day in 1947, not long after arriving in the US, Francisca was visiting a family friend with her mother. There she met the Daughters of St. Paul. Two years later, she entered the community in Staten Island, NY. Francesca asked Mother Thecla to allow her to make her novitiate in Rome. This prepared her for first Profession on March 19, 1953. For 50 years, Sr. M. Timothy has given herself generously and cheerfully in service of the community and in the mission. She spent the most time in the communities of Boston (where she was cook for 16 years!), New Orleans and Honolulu. Sister Denise Cecilia Benjamin
