Postulancy
A young woman who enters the Daughters of St. Paul becomes a Postulant. Postulancy generally lasts two years, although this may vary. The first year of Postulancy is a time of greater focus on human formation and adult education in the Faith.
The second year of Postulancy is a more intense preparation for the Novitiate. During this time, the young woman will further develop her human and Christian maturity, and come to understand more deeply what it means to completely dedicate herself in the Pauline apostolic life.
During the Postulancy, a young woman is initiated into Pauline prayer life: the reading of Scripture, meditation, participation at Mass, daily Hour of Adoration, retreats, and other means of spiritual growth.

What did you do before you entered? I went to college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX and received a B.A. in English in May 2004. During college I worked and participated in activities at the Catholic Student Center at my university.
How did you meet theDaughters of St. Paul?
I found some vocation information that had been left at the Catholic student center the year before I started college and I sent in a request for more information.
When did you enter?
I entered August 22nd 2004 (feast of the Queenship of Mary)
Why did you enter?
I felt a deep attraction to our Eucharistic prayer life. I was also attracted and excited by the idea of reaching all kinds of people with the message of Jesus by using the media.
What has your experience of Postulancy been like?
During my years of postulancy I have done so many things that I never thought I would do, and in everything I have grown closer to Jesus who is my strength for every moment. As postulants we have had many different opportunities to take part in our mission. During my time of postulancy I have helped in the editorial and order entry departments in our publishing house in Boston and the postulant community also spent some time going to different parishes to lead hours of Adoration and having exhibits of our books. Each experience has been enriching and full of many graces from Jesus!
What are your hopes for the year ahead?
I hope to learn more about our Pauline life and to get closer to Jesus each day.

When did you enter?
I entered on September 8, 2005 to further discern a possible call to the religious life in the community of the Daughters of St Paul.
Why did you enter?
I entered because I was drawn to the Pauline mission of spreading the Gospel through the most modern means of communication. I was also attracted to the rich Eucharistic spirituality. The Daughters of St Paul respond to the deep and sometimes unconscious desire of humanity to find God, know him and live securely in his peace and loving providence. I felt called to be a part of this by offering his Word to the world through the many creative ways the Daughters make use of.
What has your experience of Postulancy been like?
It has been a beautiful time of discovery through prayer, study, community life and apostolate…everything! ‘Studiosita’ is the word the Founder of the Daughters of St Paul, Blessed James Alberione, coined. It means learning from everything and everyone.
What are your hopes for the year ahead?
I hope to grow closer to God; to know myself better and learn more about the Congregation as I continue to discern God’s will for me.

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given you besides (Matthew 6:33).

Novitiate
The Novitiate is a two-year program of initiation into the Pauline religious life. Building on her experiences in Postulancy, the novice becomes more greatly aware of her vocation, experiences the Institute's style of life, and takes on its spirit. Through prayer, study, immersing herself in the mission, and fraternal communion, the novice embraces the Pauline charism and prepares for consecration to the Lord in the profession of her first vows.
