October 2002

Dear Friends,

Greetings from the Pauline Vocation Office!

With this letter, we'd like to share with you the latest news - new faces, upcoming events, and so forth.

New Faces

Welcome to Kim from Arizona and Stacie from California who joined our community on September 14, 2002! Please keep these two new postulants and our second year postulants in your prayers as they embark on this exciting new adventure of their discernment and following of Jesus Master. (Who knows, this could be you someday!)

Sr. Carmen Christi, who has been serving as the national vocation director these last four years, recently was asked by our provincial superior to be the formator of Postulants. She graciously accepted this role of accompanying the young women who enter our congregation during their two years of postulancy. Sr. Carmen Christi feels she has been abundantly blessed working with you these years!

Our new national vocation director will be Sr. Margaret Michael. In December, she will be moving to Boston to begin this new assignment. Currently she lives in Cleveland, Ohio and serves as the Midwest regional vocation director. Sr. Michael is enthusiastically looking forward to getting to know you, sharing our charism with you, and helping you along the journey of your vocational discernment.

Now working in the national vocation office as an assistant, is Sr. Alice Marie. She is also a native New Yorker, like Sr. Michael. You will be hearing from her from time to time.

Good News - Saint in the Making

We are really happy to tell you that our Founder, Fr. James Alberione, is a step closer to being beatified. (Beatification is the step right before canonization - i.e., being declared a Saint.) Recently the Church approved a miracle that was attributed to Fr. Alberione's intercession.

What will his beatification mean for us Paulines? This is the Church's confirmation that the Pauline way of life is a path to holiness. If you would like a holy card with the prayer for the intercession of Fr. Alberione, please email the vocation office at
vocations@pauline.org.
