St. Paul Summer Programs 2001

This summer, the Daughters of St. Paul hosted their 7th annual Summer Programs for young adult and high school aged young women. Because one is never too young to hear God’s call, we’ve developed this program, giving particular emphasis to high school aged young women who feel drawn in some way to the religious life and want to know more about it.

Our 3 programs drew a total of 35 participants from all around the country including California, Florida, Canada, New York, Texas, Arizona, Michigan, Indiana, New Jersey, Virginia, Minnesota, Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio, and Massachusetts.

The participants spent from 5 –7 days in our Boston community, which is the central house for our US/ Toronto Province. Here in Boston, we are close to 80 Sisters including our 5 postulants and 6 novices. Many aspects of our Pauline apostolate take place here: the editorial work, the printing and binding, the music and radio recording, marketing and various forms of evangelization. Here also, our newest members begin their spiritual and apostolic formation on the journey towards embracing their Pauline vocation. Our Senior Sisters also live here. They are the "prayer powerhouse" behind all our apostolic activities.

Our week together includes daily prayer, classes and time for study and reflection, opportunities to share in the apostolic work of the Daughters of St. Paul and time for fun and relaxation. Pictured above is a group of young women during the visit to St. Thecla’s, our Retreat House. Laura Di Bartolomeo, pictured on the far left, entered our community this summer as a postulant.

St. Paul Summer Program II and Beyond

Our SPSP II and Beyond participants were young women who had been part of past summer programs. They are more seriously discerning their vocation and during the week-long program, built on the classes and experiences that they had already experienced with our community.

Their schedule included daily Eucharistic Visits with Jesus. For their apostolic projects, they brainstormed on developing teen websites with various themes.

The participants helped out in daily household chores too!

In their free time they were able to share with different Sisters and hear their vocation stories and experiences as Daughters of St. Paul. Above you see them pictured with Sr. Germana, our Provincial (photo on the left) and with Sr. Mary Augusta (photo on the right) who is 83 years old and full of life and love for her Pauline vocation.

First Timers St. Paul Summer Program

This year we had 14 young women who participated in the Summer Program for the first time. Their classes, taught by different Sisters, included topics such as, Vocational Discernment, Introduction to the Pauline Charism, Listening to the Needs of Humanity with the Heart of Christ, and Introduction to Media Literacy. Many participants expressed that their daily Visit with Jesus was the highpoint of their day. They also worked on an interview project where they are asked to speak with 3 or more Sisters about their vocation as Daughters of St. Paul.
