Rest Awhile and Be Consoled
Pray over words of Christ and Scripture.

Psalm 115

Not to us, O LORD, not to us
but to your name must you ascribe the glory
for your loving kindness, for your truthfulness.
Why should the heathen say:
"Where ever is their God!"
when our God is in heaven;
he brings about everything he pleases?
Their idols are but silver and gold,
the handicraft of a human's making.
They have mouths but cannot speak;
eyes, but cannot see;
ears, but cannot hear;
noses, but cannot smell;
hands, but cannot touch;
feet, but cannot walk;
they produce no sound with their throats.
May their makers, all those who trust in them,
come to be like them.
Israel, trust in the LORD.
He is their help and their shield.
Family of Aaron, trust in the LORD
He is their help and their shield.
You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD.
He is their help and their shield.
The LORD is mindful of us, he will grant his blessing:
he will bless the family of Israel,
he will bless the family of Aaron.
He will bless those who fear the LORD,
the little, the same as the great.
May the LORD render you fruitful,
both you and your children.
Blessed may you be by the LORD,
maker of heaven and earth.
As for the heavens, they are for the LORD;
and as for the earth, it is his gift to humankind.
It is not the dead or all those who go down into silence
who can praise the LORD.
But it is we who will bless the LORD
as of now, and so it will be forever more.
