1914—Society of St. Paul are founded; Pauline publishing begins
with a weekly diocesan paper, the Gazzetta d’Alba
1915—Daughters of St. Paul are founded; involved in the distribution of Gazzetta
d’Alba
1916—Printing of the Parish bulletin: L’Angelo, L’Amico
1918—Foundation of the Pauline Cooperators and publishing of Cooperatore
Paoline magazine
1919—Beginning of Daughters bookcenter at Alba; assorted libraries open; first
catalog printed
1921—The General Association of Libraries founded; publication of La Domenica bulletin
insert
1922—Society of St. Paul open first bookcenters
1924—Sister Disciples of the Divine Master are founded
1925 Biblical Society founded; publication of first editions of the
Gospel; Il Giornalino magazine published
1925—Bible editions published in various languages; house to house evangelization
begins
1926—A "Good Press Train" runs from the Alba publishing house to
Rome
1927—La Voce di Ro, a drama group for weekly performances, and the Society’s Illustrata play
theater begin
1928—Novels are published in weekly installments; Paulines sponsor a Book and
Gospel Exposition
1929—First paper made "in house" in the Paulines’ own papermill
1930—First attempt to begin a Catholic newspaper
1931—The Italian weekly Famiglia Christiana is born
1932—Foundations in the United States and other countries; monthly magazine La
Madre di Dio is published
1933—League "for the daily reading of the Holy Gospel" begins; Brazil
initiates Cooperator magazine and O Domingo Sunday bulletin insert
1934—A series of scholastic texts are published
1935—The "Ut Unum Sint" center for ecumenism is opened; 2,300,000
Gospels and three million catechisms are distributed by this time
1938—Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd are founded; Society of St. Paul begins
work with the cinema
1939—Argentina and Spain publish monthly magazines
1940—Expansion of the bookcenters; the first International Bookcenter is opened.
1947—USA publishes Catholic Home Messenger
1950—Radio apostolate is begun in Tokyo; fifty catechetical documentaries produced
in Italy
1959—Sisters of the Queen of Apostles are founded
1952—Publicity office and editorial offices open in Italy; new monthly magazine Via,
Verita, Vita
1953—Italian Pauline films translated into English
1954—Large scale evangelization projects begin; Philippines publish Home
Life and The Youngster magazines
1960—Famiglia Christiana reaches 1 million subscribers; the International
Catholic Bible Society begins; four new Aggregated Institutes are founded:
Jesus the Priest, Holy Family, Mary of the Annunciation, Gabriel the Archangel
1960—Association of Audiovisual Techniques begins; production of award-winning,
full length films and 8 mm films (San Paolo Films)
1961—Begin duplicating records; Fr. Alberione speaks of rational diffusion
1962—More periodicals initiated around the world and in Italy
1967—Radio apostolate begins in Brazil
1971—The last year of Fr. Alberione’s life, publications, magazines and films
continue to be produced around the world.
