John Paul Search for the Truth with Us

What is our vocation in the Church?
Do our lives have any meaning?
Why is there evil in the world?
  How do you pray?
What does it mean to be truly free?
  Will God forgive me?
  Is there a future?
Can holiness be a part of ordinary life?
  Is peace possible?
  Social justice
  Does faith really matter?
What is the mission of the older person?
How can we share our faith with others?
Will the Church survive the present scandal?
Documents of Pope John Paul II

For Those Who Fear the Future

"When Christ says: ‘Do not be afraid,’ he wants to respond to the deepest source of the human being’s existential fear. He means do not fear evil, since in his resurrection good has shown itself stronger than evil. His Gospel is victorious truth."

" ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’ (Ps 117:22). The verse expresses the truth about divine mercy revealed in the resurrection: love gained the victory over sin, and life over death. This is the very essence of the Good News."

"Humanity does not wish to stray; on the contrary, it wishes to be raised! But to be able to rise it must use all its resources and above all it must rely on the superhuman power that comes to it in the person of Jesus Christ, Savior of the World and Redeemer of mankind."

"May Jesus be your peace! ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever!’ (Heb 13:8)."

"Faced with the darkness of death and the uncertainties of the future, we are invited to lift our gaze to Christ, not to forget what is here below, but to focus on the definitive goal of human existence, and thus to find the strength to move ahead and commit ourselves to building a better world."

"If we are to build a future of peace, brotherhood and justice, we must preserve intact the heart of that culture: faith in Christ."

"We would be succumbing to a false strategy if we tried to make complaining about today’s world and warning against its temptations the center of our life and activity."

"Bear witness that the serious problems of today can be solved if we succeed in making Jesus Christ present among the people."

"His word alone, his truth, gives freedom and allows people courageously to overcome the many conditions and types of social problems."

"With God nothing is impossible! What is especially possible is conversion, which can change hatred into love and war into peace."

"Peace is possible! It is possible because man has a conscience and a heart. It is possible because God loves each one of us, just as each one is, so as to transform and make him or her grow."

"Peace remains the greatest challenge of our time. It is good to be tenaciously defended and promoted, through the generous collaboration of every person of goodwill. It must be born in the intimacy of hearts and minds before reaching diplomatic and political quarters."

"It is in the family that man learn the secret of peace, experiencing the warmth of acceptance and day after day practicing the discipline of the emotions, in the effort for tolerance, in the commitment to communion. This is why those who work for the family, work for peace!"
