Will the Church Survive the Present Scandal?
"Dear brothers and sisters, whoever reflects
on the history of the Church with eyes of love will discover that
despite the many faults and shadows, there were and still are men
and women everywhere whose lives highlight the credibility of the
Gospel."
"To be young! Be a young Church! Did you ever
see a 2,000-year-old young person? The Church is one. She is always
young, always beautiful, very much alive, always attractive. It
is always difficult; many times she is attacked, hindered, but this
Church is always herself: what I am saying St. Paul also says!"
"It is very important that the Christian community
presents itself as a single body, diversified in functions and services,
in groups and movements, but united in its motives, objectives and
Gospel style. It is the lesson of the Trinity."
"What could seem to human eyes a slow and
uneven path, is actually God’s method."
"When every human means seems to fail, believers
turn to God who alone—in the words of the prophet Ezekiel—is
capable of taking away hearts of stone and replacing them with hearts
of flesh."
"Even when the Christian feels humanly impotent
before the tide of evil, he knows that through prayer he can count
on the omnipotence of God who does not abandon those who trust in
him."
"Even if human means fade, hope in God never
fails!"
