Lilo and Stitch Lilo and Stitch is about a Hawaiian girl named Lilo and a cute-looking, blue creature called Stitch. Stitch has escaped from another planet and is considered a very dangerous scientific experiment. Lilo brings Stitch home with her, but his destructive behavior makes things difficult for Nani, Lilo’s older sister, who is raising Lilo. Lilo must tame Stitch, in order to keep her family together.
“Lilo had to learn to accept the differences in Stitch, just like she wanted to be accepted by the other girls in town despite her differences.” At first, nobody wanted or understood Stitch. It was frustrating to see how many things went wrong for Lilo and her sister. I wish Stitch had learned how to be Lilo’s friend sooner than he did. —Mary K., age 11 “The main lesson of the story is a good one for families. The sisters share the saying ‘ohana,’ which means, ‘no one gets left behind or forgotten.’” —Anne K., age 15 “I liked how Stitch learned not to wreck everything he touched and learned what a family is all about. I loved it when Stitch says, ‘This is my family. It’s broken but still good.’ I learned that two sisters can be a family, even if they don’t always get along.” —Elizabeth K., age 8
To do before the movie: Has there been a time that you ever felt totally alone? Has there been a time when you wanted to do something yourself, but had to ask for help? To do after the movie: How did watching this movie make you feel about your family? Talk about about how much the members of your family mean to each other.
