Mulan Mulan is an animated musical film based on an old Chinese folk tale. Mulan is a teenage girl who is living a comfortable life. Then the Huns invade China, and the Emperor calls for volunteers to defend the country. Mulan’s elderly father wants to join the army. Instead, Mulan dresses up like a warrior and goes into battle herself.
“Mulan learned to be herself. She also learned that she could do more than what she thought she could, like be a soldier when this was only for boys. Mushu, the dragon, learned to listen and think things through. I really liked the music in this movie.” —Amy Y., age 12 “At first, Mulan treated other people badly, like she knew it all and like she was the best. She had a bad attitude. But after Mulan retrieved the arrow from the post she gained respect for herself and other people, too.” —Andrew B., age 13 “I liked this movie, especially when Mulan saved China and fought the Huns. Every part teaches about how we should treat people and other things. Families can learn that if you never give up you can make good things happen.” —Emily B., age 10
