Robin Hood By Michael Nerbun Robin Hood seemed the people of Nottingham's only hope. King Richard of England was away from the kingdom. The mean and cruel phony King, Prince John, was taxing the heart and soul out of the people and was putting them in jail when they could not pay. Prince John tried to catch Robin Hood so he could kill him. But that didn't stop Robin Hood from risking his life to help the people. The story of Robin Hood is a famous legend. I liked the movie because he was using his talent as a skillful archer and swordsman to defend the people of Nottingham. Robin Hood's motto was "borrow" from the rich to feed the poor. Even though stealing is wrong, Robin worked to help save lives and protect the people from the unjust King. He was doing something to help others. In a way he acted in self defense by taking back what rightly belonged to the people. He was giving them hope when he promised a widow woman with many children, "Cheer up. Someday there will be happiness again in Nottingham." After seeing the movie, I too want to be kind to others and bringing joy and happiness to everyone. I also thought it was a fun movie to watch. It is my favorite Walt Disney cartoon. The animal characters are really cute and even though it is a sad theme there is lots of joking and funny scenes as Robin Hood rescues Nottingham from the bad King. Have fun watching this with your parents! You will get lots of laughs and it has a happy ending. Before you watch: Robin Hood is a legendary English outlaw and popular hero who became known through a series of ballads beginning in 1377. He has long been a figure in English literature. He was said to have been born in the 12th century at Nottinghamshire, and was the outlawed earl of Huntington in disguise. He lived in Sherwood Forest and was known for his courage, generosity, and skill in archery. Who are some brave people you know? What do you like about them? After you watch: Did you like what Robin Hood did or do you think he should have done something else? If so what do you think he should have done? What are some of the virtues Robin Hood had that you would like to have?
