An important message to parents of subscribers Dear Friend, Throughout the years, My Friend magazine has brought the Catholic faith into your child’s life through colorful and exciting pages filled with stories, comics, features, games and puzzles, and more. After twenty-seven years, many of our first readers now have families of their own, with children who make up a new generation of My Friend readers. My Friend has been a part of your lives, and you have been a part of ours, part of the My Friend family. That is why it’s difficult to inform you of our decision to discontinue publishing My Friend magazine with the June 2007 issue. Though we are saddened by this decision, we want to assure you that we remain fully committed to continuing to reach children today—your children—through our mission of media evangelization. We promise to keep you informed of the new ways Pauline Sisters will continue to inspire and inform your children for living our Catholic faith today. The decision to cease publication was reached after a careful study that we conducted with a professional marketing consultant group, followed by a discernment involving all the sisters of our U.S./Toronto province. For the past several years the magazine has experienced a gradual decline in subscriptions coupled with higher production costs that we as self-supporting sisters have found increasingly difficult to sustain. Discontinuing the magazine will allow us to redirect and concentrate our apostolic and financial resources to our children’s book publishing, Pauline Kids (the children’s line of our publishing house, Pauline Books & Media, which can be found online at www.pauline.org). Some of you have subscribed your children to My Friend for several years. We thank you for your loyalty, prayers, and support. To newer subscribers, we apologize for not being able to fulfill our commitment to you. Although your children will not be receiving the magazine after the June issue, we hope you will find in our other children’s and family publications the guidance, formation, and inspiration you seek for your family. To all of you, we assure our continued prayers. At this time we are notifying you in a general way regarding this decision. Within the next several weeks we will be contacting those of you who paid for the magazine subscription concerning the refund of your remaining subscription fee. If you do not hear from us by mail, please contact us at the address or phone number below, or email myfriend4kids(at)paulinemedia.com. If you have any questions concerning our decision to discontinue My Friend, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Blessings on you and your loved ones, Sr. Donna Giaimo, FSP My Friend—The Catholic Magazine for Kids |
